The Open Source Digest
Published by VARV VARV, 2010 – ongoing. The Open Source Digest publishes freely available out of copyright material from the public domain. Compiled into an easily replicated, adaptable, low budget format, it focusses on both the formal concerns of republishing and on the appropriate overall consideration of content. Each volume serves as a different experiment into ways of processing and redistributing digital resources into accessible physical artefacts.
The Open Source Digest aims to highlight publishing values, question current production models and explore copyright issues, by employing print publishing as a tool for active critical inquiry.
Volume 1 printed risograph & inkjet in the UK. Volume 2 printed digitally on demand via lulu.com. Volume 3 published as an eight page insert in GRAPHIC Magazine.
